Down Syndrome NSW proudly congratulates three incredible artists from our community, Catherine McGuiness, Meagan Pelham, and Mathew Calandra, on being named finalists in the prestigious 2025 Archibald Prize. The Archibald Prize, held by the Art Gallery of NSW, is one of Australia’s most celebrated art awards, and it is an extraordinary milestone to see not one but three artists with Down syndrome recognised among this year’s finalists.

Our first Autumn Adventure took place from March 14–16, 2025, and despite the season, it felt just like summer! With temperatures soaring above 30 degrees Celsius, we had the perfect weather for an action-packed camp full of fun, laughter, and adventure.

Sydney, 19 March 2025 – In honour of World Down Syndrome Day, Down Syndrome NSW gathered at Government House, Sydney, for a special evening hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, and Mr. Dennis Wilson. The event celebrated the strength and contributions of the Down Syndrome NSW community while recognising the generosity of donors through the Champions for Change program.

Down Syndrome NSW Joins Down Syndrome Australia in Supporting the Our Health Still Counts Campaign Down Syndrome NSW (DSNSW) is proud to join Down Syndrome Australia in supporting the important Our Health Still Counts campaign, led by the Council for Intellectual Disability (CID) and Inclusion Australia. This campaign is a powerful call to action for all political parties, candidates, and policymakers to commit to much-needed reforms that address the healthcare needs of people with intellectual disabilities, including those with Down syndrome. Research and reports from the Disability Royal Commission have highlighted the systemic neglect and significant barriers people with intellectual disabilities, including Down syndrome, face in accessing healthcare, leading to poorer health outcomes and a reduced quality of life.
