Sharks and Down Syndrome NSW Join Forces for an Unforgettable Training Experience

On World Down Syndrome Day (21st March 2025) Down Syndrome NSW members were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience with the Cronulla Sharks at Shark Park, celebrating World Down Syndrome Day in an unforgettable way.

The event provided 20 lucky attendees with the unique opportunity to watch the Sharks train up close, witness the team’s skills in action, and take part in a special photo opportunity with the players. The day was made even more meaningful as the Sharks showed their support by donning Lots of Socks, a global initiative to raise awareness and promote inclusion for people with Down syndrome.

“This event is a fantastic way to connect our community with professional athletes and highlight the importance of inclusion in all areas of life, including sports,” said Christine Turner, Down Syndrome NSW representative. “We are incredibly grateful to the Sharks for their warm welcome and for making this such a special experience for our members.”

Attendees were able to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s rigorous training routine, followed by a meet-and-greet where members were gifted with jerseys and shoes, had the chance to chat with the players and capture memorable moments.

The event was a celebration of ability, inclusion, and community spirit, reinforcing the message that sport has the power to bring people together and create lasting positive impact.
