Advocacy in action: Our recent NDIS submission

30 Nov 1999

Down Syndrome NSW continues to advocate for the rights, inclusion and wellbeing of people with Down syndrome and their families across NSW.

Our advocacy work is informed by the experiences of our members, families, carers and community. We listen to the issues being raised through our Information and Support Line, events, programs, member conversations and sector partnerships, and use this feedback to help shape our submissions to government.

Most recently, we made a submission to the Senate Inquiry into the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026. Our submission raised concerns about the potential impact of proposed changes on people with Down syndrome and their families, including access to essential supports, choice and control, safeguards, and the need for clear and fair decision-making.

We also work alongside Down Syndrome Australia and other disability advocacy organisations to make sure the voices of people with Down syndrome and their families are heard in state and national conversations.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their story, experience or concern with us. These stories help us advocate with evidence, urgency and purpose.
